Development of last work (i.e. typing in some more data), brought a wider view on the city structure. The tram transport nodes create a closed ring around centrally located Old Town and Downtown. Polygon traced after these points covers more or less my emotional map of what is "in", and what is "out".
According to famous schools of urban reading, dense transport net is only one of the features defining "where
in is on".
We could count the factor of node's capacity divided by the width of the tramstops, or by the surface of pedestrian pavements between stops of each node. It would be directly connected to potential frustration raised during each change. It is possible that presenting this information would cause riots. We'd better skip that part.
METHODOLOGY
- value for each tram stop is counted in linear proportion to trams stopping. Relatively, the images show the proportion between usage of main nodes. Quantitatively, the capacity was calculated as the number of trams stopping multiplied by 240 (intuitively estimated average capacity of tram), and divided by 5, according to estimation that in the city center personal average travel would be 2,5km long (average 500m between stops). No correction for the filling of wagons.


Accessibility of transport and easiness of mobility, let us agree again, are among the most important activators of urban life. As simple as that. Continuing first post concerning this topic (with photos of four nodes), if you look at the satelite images of these " local hubs", especially in the northern part of the city, you would understand why citizens choose to spend 2 hours a day in their cars.
